Avoid isolation

Off-campus learning need not be carried out entirely in isolation. You do not have to create and do everything on your own. It is important to build and maintain your connections with your learning community; it is by connecting with other learners and scholars that you'll enhance your experience with tertiary study and begin to expand your capabilities and understandings.

Using your subject MUSO discussion boards are one example of avoiding isolation.

Connecting with your learning community can help you get a sense of how others have coped with the challenges of off-campus learning and give you a chance to share your ideas by subscribing to a Learning Support email group for off-campus learners.

What are some of the discoveries you've made that have helped you deal with isolation as an off-campus student? Share your reflections and examples by sending an email to the iDEas group.
