The site is designed to serve as a resource for staff at Monash who teach and/or interact with students from mainland China and from countries and regions with related cultural traditions.
The overall project, "Expanding Language and Learning Support for Students", of which this site is part was awarded Monash Strategic Innovations funding 2005-2006. The development of the suite of websites was undertaken by the project team and Language and Learning staff of the Centre for Learning and Teaching Support (CeLTS), then Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CALT), Monash University, under the direction of Associate Professor Rosemary Clerehan.
The site was written and designed by Geoff Millar with assistance from Associate Professor Rosemary Clerehan, Dr Eleanor Peeler and Harriet Searcy.
Information on the student experience is drawn from interviews with Chinese students at Monash University, principally from students undertaking postgraduate coursework degrees in Business and Economics. The experience they report has much in common with that of both international and local students across this and many other universities.
