Guidelines for lecturing

Two excellent resources for lecturers looking to improve their technique are:

• the "Appendix: supportive lecturing strategies" (pp. 34-5) to Mulligan & Kirkpatrick (2000), and
• the little book 53 Interesting Things to Do in Your Lectures by Gibbs, Habeshaw & Habeshaw (1992).

This section draws on both of these in offering guidelines on three major areas:

• Supporting and structuring knowledge
• Presentation and pacing strategies
• Handling presentation slides and OHTs
