Monash University is committed to providing a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to work and study. Monash is a friendly and welcoming workplace, as well as having beautiful, natural settings on its campuses.
The Indigenous Engagement Unit was established to assist Indigenous candidates to make a smooth progression into employment at Monash, and offer continued support and career development assistance.
The unit offers:
- job matching of Indigenous candidates to available positions
- support for selection panels interviewing Indigenous candidates
- cross-cultural awareness training for staff
- support for new staff to assist with transitioning into the Monash culture
- support and advice for supervisors on cultural matters
- an Indigenous Employee Network for Indigenous staff to gain added peer support
- mentoring of staff and
- identification of career development opportunities both internally and externally for Indigenous staff.
