English language support

Do you think you need help with English expression? It is good for you to visit The Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CALT) http://www.calt.monash.edu.au or http://www.celts.monash.edu.au on your campus. This is a service that provides free classes and resources to help you improve your written and oral expression, as well as your skills in reading, listening to lectures, note taking and approaches to study. Career and job advice

Looking for part-time or casual work while you study? Or maybe you need help with full-time employment after your course? Then it's time to contact Career and Employment Development. This is the group that can help. Plus, there is an online job system to use when you are searching for jobs. This job-searching service remains available to you after graduation.

Clubs, societies and associations

So many choices! More than 180 student clubs, societies and associations cover cultural, gender, religious, political, theatrical, ethnic, faculty and social interests. There is something for everyone. As a student, you can join in wherever you want to.

Services for students with a disability

If you have a disability or chronic medical condition, the Disability Liaison Unit (DLU) can assist you with a range of services.

Legal advice

Professional legal practitioners are part of the Monash community service and can assist you with advice regarding any legal issues that may arise.  The Monash University Faculty of Law offers more information about the community legal services available for students.

Religious services

You can access spiritual support regardless of your religious faith. Muslim prayer facilities are provided on, or near, all Australian campuses. The Salaam Monash Handbook is available from your campus office, providing information on Islamic societies and halal food.

Services for international students with families

If you are an international student with children, there is a Family and Child Care Service where staff can assist with your child care needs and any aspect of child and family welfare.

Counselling

If you need to talk to someone confidentially about academic or personal problems, we have qualified counsellors who can help you free of charge. The counsellors also run numerous practical group programs. These are designed to help you deal with issues such as stress management, motivation, self-esteem, time management, exam skills and English conversation.

Financial services

Do you have money problems? At Monash, help is at hand. If you experience difficulty managing your finances, community services specialists can assist with all the details about student loans, basic taxation information and general financial advice.

Medical services

Whether you need urgent medical care or help with routine health matters, the Monash Health Service provides consultations free-of-charge. The Health Service bulk-bills approved private funds for international students (meaning that there is no out-of-pocket expense). However, in some cases, fees are charged directly for special services requiring examination other than routine medical examinations.
