EmploymentHolders of Australian student visas can work on a part-time basis for up to twenty hours per week during the semester and on a full-time basis during semester breaks. The visa regulations place no restrictions on the type or nature of work that the student engages in. Most students find part-time work in the service and hospitality industries. Students who obtain electronic student visas will not have visa stamps in their passports and do not need a stamp to work. Both students and employers have on-line access to the Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) system which contains electronic details of their visas. We advise all exchange and study abroad students that working while they are at Monash, even on a part-time basis, is not recommended because it inevitably reduces the amount of time available for study, travel and socialising and therefore interferes with the whole exchange experience. |
