Mentee Application Form
New students who would like to join our program are called, 'Mentees'. Mentees will benefit from having someone they can ask questions and advice as well as meeting new friends through the broader social program.
If you would like to sign up as a Mentee for semester 2, 2009, please complete and submit the form below.
We ask you to agree:
Before completing the online application we ask you to agree to the guidelines:
-
Meet regularly with your mentor, we recommend one hour per week for six weeks. Prepare for each meeting with questions/areas of discussion;
-
Respond promptly to your mentor when he/she contacts you and keep arrangements to meet. It is ok if you are unable to accept an invitation but it is more important to make this clear to your volunteer and to make alternative arrangements;
-
Always respect the culture and beliefs of your mentor. Expect and accept that there may be some cultural differences between you and your mentor. Try exploring these differences with your mentor as a way of learning about each other and broadening the cross-cultural experience;
-
Please don't ask your mentor for money, or copies of their assignments;
-
Be mindful that whilst your mentor is there to assist you during the transition into university life, he/she is not a trained student counsellor, or personal tutor. If you require assistance with a serious personal problem or academic issue there are staff at Monash University who are trained to assist you with such issues;
-
Do not engage in any inappropriate or illegal activity with your mentor;
-
Let the Peer Mentor Coordinator and your mentor know if you are no longer interested in being in the Peer Mentor Program.
-
Let the Peer Mentor Coordinator and your mentor know if your contact details change.
-
Have fun and enjoy yourself.
