Providers must advise overseas students in writing at the beginning of their course of the student's obligation to advise the provider of any change in their contact details. (NC 41)
Keep a record of student address for 2 years after a student completes their study (s.21)
B. Guidelines
Under visa regulations students are required to advise their provider of address details within 7 days of arrival or change. At the same time under ESOS, if a student is reported for breach of visa conditions and the notice of report is sent to the wrong address because a student has failed to notify the provider of their correct address, students cannot challenge a visa cancellation on these grounds. Paragraph 41 of the National Code though places an obligation on providers to advise students of their address obligations.
Good practice dictates that regular reports are run of international student addresses and that students are contacted if a local address is not recorded on the system. These reports should be run at least once per semester.
