All courses registered on CRICOS must be full time (NC 13.1)
Courses may not be delivered part-time or by distance education (NC 13.1)
Normally, full-time study requires a minimum of 20 contact hours per week taken as an average for a term or semester (unless otherwise approved by the accrediting body) (NC 13.2)
An academic year must not be less than a period of 36 weeks per annum (NC 13.2)
Course duration entered on CRICOS must be determined on the basis of the normal amount of full-time study required to complete the course (NC 13.3)
Duration must not include any period of work based training unless it is a mandatory requirement of the course (NC 13.3)
Where more than one provider is involved in the delivery of a course, the provider to be registered for that course will be the provider which will issue the credential (NC 13.4)

The provider is fit and proper to be registered to deliver programs to overseas students unless exempt under the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations 2001. (s. 9(2)(ca), 9(6))
Exemptions apply to:
A provider that is administered by a State education authority. (The intention of section 9(5)(a) of the ESOS Act 2000 is that TAFE Institutes are included under this provision.)
A provider receiving recurrent Commonwealth funds for provision of education and training, other than one excluded by the Regulations.
Any other provider specified in the Regulations. Exemptions do not apply to any private corporate body established in connection with an exempt provider. (s. 9(5))

The ESOS Act requires providers of courses to international students to register their institution and the courses they offer with DEST on CRICOS. Faculties cannot offer a place in a course that does not have CRICOS approval. The State Office of Higher Education (OHE) and the Education Minister approve registration before a code is allocated and the details recorded on the CRICOS register. Providers and their agents must not promote a course to overseas students unless it is registered on CRICOS.
Any provider of education and training that seeks to recruit, enrol or teach overseas students, or to advertise its ability to do so, must be registered on CRICOS, or must do so in accordance with an arrangement it has with a provider registered for the relevant course (in which case the registered provider is responsible for all obligations under the Act). The provider must be registered for each course it offers to overseas students, and for each State or Territory in which it offers the course (section 8 ESOS Act 2000).
Courses can only be offered on a full time on campus basis. Part time or OCL (Off campus learning - formerly known as Distance Education) courses are not eligible for registration. Any course revisions must not compromise Full Time study. If a course is no longer offered full-time it must be withdrawn from CRICOS.
Faculty must obtain CRICOS approval before offering a course for international students. Penalties for breach are severe.
As outlined in C, whenever a 'notifiable' event occurs the MI CRICOS Administrator must be informed.
Callista should not be updated with a new course listing for international students until the course has been approved for CRICOS Registration. Callista data is the central repository of data for university courses: if Callista is updated before CRICOS approval is given, the university exposes itself to the risk that it may inadvertently offer a course that has not been registered
Inform the CRICOS Administrator (Recruitment and Marketing Division) whenever a notifiable event occurs. These being:
1.
