Advanced standing/credit/RPL

A. Policy

  • If RPL is to be granted the provider must have a formal process for conducting and recording RPL (NC 31)
  • A record of a student's RPL must be signed by the student and a copy placed on the student file (NC 31)
  • Where RPL is granted before the issue of a visa, the net course duration (as reduced by RPL) must be indicated on the eCOE issued for that student (NC 32.1)
  • Where RPL is granted after the issue of a visa, the resulting change of course duration must be reported via PRISMS (NC 32.2)

B. Guidelines

Formal arrangements in each Faculty for the assessment of credit/RPL should include:

  • Written procedures for the conducting and recording of RPL/credit
  • Provision for recording of decisions on Callista once decisions have been made
  • The assessment where possible of credit/RPL prior to offer and so be reflected in the initial eCOE;
  • Collection of student signature on the record of credit including for students who transfer courses
  • Forwarding of the record and student signature to student files and,
  • Notifying Monash International if the expected course completion date has changed
For students who are offered credit prior to visa issue, when they accept the Monash offer, they also sign acceptance of the credit offer. This acceptance document is filed centrally.

For students who receive credit at enrolment or post enrolment, the student signature on the record of credit may be collected in one of two ways. Either a letter is sent to the student for the student to return with the signature on the credit record or for an email to be sent to students at the Monash email address outlining the credit record which, when returned, constitutes the student signature and is then filed centrally.
