Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Fellowships

Monash has established an agreement with the esteemed Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, to award fellowships for Monash students from select countries who undertake select Masters degrees, taught on campus through the Graduate School of Business. Eligible programs include:

The fellowships program of the MBR Foundation is highly competitive, and awards qualified candidates who demonstrate leadership capabilities, dedication and commitment to the human and socio-economic progress of the Middle East region. The program covers financial costs related to tuition, books, accommodation, stipend and travel for the full duration of the Fellowship.

The MBR Foundation is a regional initiative spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. It aims to elevate research, knowledge creation and the infrastructure of higher education to international standards, to stimulate employment and entrepreneurship and empower young people to innovate. It also strives to promote, recognize and reinstate the status of culture, heritage and cross-cultural understanding in the Middle East. The Foundation was established as part of a personal endowment of His Highness, announced at the May 2007 World Economic Forum, of some US$10 billion toward the development of a knowledge-based society in the Middle East region.


Conditions and Eligibility

  • Nationals of the 22 Member countries of the League of Arab States are eligible to apply
    • These countries are: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen
  • To be eligible, applicants must first secure an acceptance to one of the above Monash programs
  • Upon completion of their studies, fellowship recipients are legally bound to return to the region for at least two years of employment in the public or private sector


Application Process

  1. Secure an acceptance to one of the above Monash programs
  2. Submit to the Foundation a completed Fellowship application form, available here
  3. Attend an interview with the MBR Foundation, if necessary
