About the presentation...

In 1996 the Department of Psychology obtained a grant of $40,000 to develop a WWW-based curriculum materials for its undergraduate teaching. In our presentation to HEPCIT, we wish to demonstrate some of the support packages that are now available to students on the Web. The session will be introduced by Dr Kristina Macrae, the Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies in the department and Deputy Associate Dean (Teaching) in the Faculty of Science, who will give an overview of what we hope to achieve and an indication of the range of activities being undertaken under the auspices of the grant. Dr Greg Yelland, the Chair of the department's Computer Committee, and its representative on the Faculty of Science Computer Committee, will discuss the Statistics Package that is being developed, and access the Web to demonstrate some of its features. Mr Andrew Smith, the department's Multimedia Development Officer, will talk about and demonstrate the Web pages and links to other sites that he has been setting up. These include lecture and laboratory programs in our undergraduate subjects, support pages for laboratory report writing, and information about careers and professional qualifications in Psychology.
