Life @ SEF
There are many things to see and do at South East Flats. More importantly, there are many ways you can contribute to making life much easier and more fun. Don't forget about the South East Flats Ethos!
South East Flats Ethos
The South East Flats offer residents a more private living environment, in that each flat is fully self contained. One of the benefits associated with living at the South East Flats is that their structure and governance enables residents to become more independent and self-reliant. Residents are still actively encouraged to take part in the support services offered by Monash Residential Services.
The South East Flats differs from the Halls of Residence deliberately in the following ways to achieve the ethos stated above.
- Less functions and events – residents are encourage to successfully organize (in consultation with the RST) their own social events.
- Fortnightly cleaning – residents take pride in their flat setting up cleaning rosters and dealing with real life aspects such as taking out the rubbish and planning meals together.
- Better facility to resident ratio – e.g. better access to kitchens, bathrooms, laundry and communal areas
- More intensive and quiet study environment suitable for achieving your very best academically in your final years at Monash University.
- Better suited to cook with your flat mates
- More room in bedrooms and flat communal areas so that residents can make their flat their home.
The South East Flats offer a greater dimension to the housing options offered by Monash Residential Services. The Flats are ideally suited to second and higher year students who are seeking something a little more private.
