This section covers some stuff which we might have overlooked in the
VIP Tour
| Rooms
Each resident has their own bedroom which is furnished, carpeted and heated. Large windows let
in plenty of light. Bedding and linen are provided with fresh linen supplied once a week.
Each room has a large wardrobe, bookshelf, a study desk with desk chair and an easy chair.
A rubbish bin is also provided. There are telephone connections in each room and telephone
charges are competitive. Internal calls within Monash Uni are free. Each room also has a
computer connection which can be used for course work, email and internet access so keeping
in touch with family and friends is easy.

Bathrooms
There is approximately one bathroom to every six residents. There are several in each
stairway so there is always one close by. These each have a shower, toilet, mirror and vanity
basin. The bathrooms are kept clean by the cleaning staff and the hot water never runs out!
|
| Newspapers
Each morning, newspapers are delivered to the Common Room so you can keep up with what's
going on. We get The Age, The Herald Sun, and The Australian; something to please everyone.
Comfortable chairs are there for you to collapse into and have a read. Mail is delivered each
day to the Common Room so check that while you're there, you may have something else to read.

Car Parking
As a resident, you are allowed one car park for your car if you have one. Car
parking is free and the car park is patrolled by the security staff. If you ride,
secure bike storage facilities are also available.
|
| Amusements
In the Common Room there are two pool tables for those who like to shoot the occasional game.
This is where the pool competition is held. Next door are two table tennis tables. Guess what
competition we hold there? Some sporting equipment and board games are also available from the
Resident Advisors.

Music Room
A room is set aside for the musically inclined. Here you can practise your bagpipes
without distraction. A piano is there and is tuned each year. From time to time the musos
get together and give a performance, a fun way to get together and be loud.
|
| Equipment
All of the common areas in Roberts are cleaned by the Cleaning staff. The cleanliness
of your room is your responsibility. To help you out with this daunting task, there are several
vacuum cleaners, brooms, dust pans etc.. which can be borrowed from a Resident Advisor.
There's also an iron and an ironing board in each stairway.

Free shuttle bus
One of the nearest shopping centres from Roberts is Brandon Park( Coles, K-Mart, Butchers,
Fruit and Vegies, Bakers, Bottle Shop, Dry Cleaners, and many more...) which is about 2km - a
25 minute walk one-way. (NOT 40 miles uphill both ways, and snowing all the time !) To make
everybody's life a lot easier, each Saturday a free shuttle bus service operates between
Halls and Brandon Park. ( Starting 9:30am till 1:00pm) Many people use this bus to do their
weekly load of shopping, which saves them from having to carry their shopping all the way
back or catch public transport.

| Dining Hall
Tired of cooking? Had enough of those 2 minute noodles? Then worry no more, the Dining
Hall is only a short hop away. The prices are kept low to meet the typical student budget,
and you can get a decent evening meal for around $4.00. There's a wide selection and the
Dining Room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. There's also a McDonalds,
Pizza Hut and a Red Rooster within a 10-25 minute walking radius. Monash Pizza, another student
favourite, is only 10 minutes away. There's a lot more take-out places (at least 10) in
Pinewood, so you'll never starve to death.
