Orientation Week 2008

Farrer once again had a fully booked O-week. Having successfully introduced the newbies on Saturday night at our dinner and trivia night, the revelries were ready to begin.

Sunday Morning we hit up the city proper, fun was had by all, apart from the city of greater Melbourne who was very glad that O-week only occurs twice a year at Farrer Hall. Thankfully, we all made it safely back from our scavenger hunt and to top off the day the cannibalism charges laid on one particular Farrer Ferret were dropped.

The shocked firsties were then treated to a Farrer special the next day, the old 6 o’clock Macca’s run. Although there was much complaining every one joined in, we could all feel the love.

And so our O-week continued. Having travelled over to Uni to check out Clubs and Societies day, we realised that our services were required elsewhere. To Trevor’s bar at the local lawn bowls club we went. We met a crew of old-time bowlers who were more than happy to share a yarn or two about when they were young, and in their prime and how they used to.. you guessed it. Good old Stretch. What a bloody machine. Never has a day at the bowling greens been filled with such mind-blowing shenanagins. Did I say mind-blowing?

The Beach party at Farrer went down like a frog in a blender. What a tremendous evening, sweat and bodily fluids have never been so abundant. Boy was it hot in the common room! It was beautiful, and the newbies loved it showing the old timers and ‘mind-blowing’ himself a thing or two.

By the end of the week we were all studied out and we knew we had to get back to University, which is why we are here.

We ended O-week with many loyal next generation Farrersites more than ready to pick up the slack and continue in our rich cultural tradition. Good on-ya champs. Welcome to Farrer!
