Orientation Week 2006

Letter from the Prez

G'day new Ferrets,

My name is Sam Worrall and I am the president of the Farrer Hall Society.

I am writing to congratulate you on your acceptance to University but more importantly on your acceptance to Farrer Hall.

I know you're probably a bit nervous about moving away from home and into the 'big smoke' of Melbourne. But fear not baby ferrets, a crack O-Week team has been assembled to help you settle into university life. We have been slaving away all summer (well at least for a couple of days) to put together an awesome schedule of events and activities that will make schoolies look like one of those McDonalds parties you had when you were six.

Farrer is a friendly, social and sport oriented Hall comprising of a large percentage of students from regional Australia. We pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and by the end of O-week I'm sure you will be proud to call Farrer your new home.

Now ferrets before you jump in the car or on a plane to come down to Melbourne on the 19th of February I want you to make sure you have packed the following items along with those on the to bring list.

  1. All the old, ugly, crazy, bizarre clothing and accessories you can dig up. If you thought you would never be seen in public in it, I assure you it will come in handy at a Farrer function. For starters you will need your bikinis, boardies, sombreros and zinc for the beach party we are throwing in O-week.
  2. A set of good clothes, for our café cruise on Lygon Street in the second week (sorry guys no stubbie shorts and thongs for this one)
  3. Most importantly don't forget to pack an open mind, your party shoes, a winning smile and all the energy and enthusiasm you can muster.

I can't wait to meet you all on the 19th of February, so until then stock up on some home cooked meals, have a few good nights sleep and get excited because you are about to have the best week and year of your lives!

Sammy Worrall
