Coaching staff

Tim Powell - Senior Coach

Tim Powell returns to Monash Blues after becoming just the 4th man to coach a Monash Senior Premiership when he achieved this success coaching the Club to the D1 flag in 2003. Work commitments then forced his premature retirement from the coaching game, but we are thrilled that he returns for the next onslaught in 2010. Tim played 75 AFL games for Richmond and Carlton and played in the 1993 AFL Grand Final. Tim is passionate about footy and the Monash Blues, generates a great rapport with players, committee and supporters and is the ideal man to lead the club into its next exciting era.

Mark Frater - Assistant Coach

Mark ‘Fatty’ Frater, aged 34, comes new to the club after previously playing for four years with the Caulfield Grammarians Football Club. As a former midfielder he is keen to be involved with the success of the Monash Blues Football Club in 2010 and trusts that his professional experience as a Physical Education teacher (13 years) along with his football experience in the VFL (120 games, 97’ Premiership player and 7 years of VFL finals experience with Sandringham and Frankston) will be a valuable addition to the 2010 line up.

Darryl Hoffman - U19's Coach

Darryl Hoffman comes to the Club in 2010 having previously played in the Sydney and Canberra leagues, mostly as a defender or in the midfield. In recent years, while living in China, he was playing coach for the expat Beijing Bombers team. He was also the China Red Demons' coach for the team's first ever appearance at the 2008 International Cup. He hopes to use his experience to successfully develop the under 19s players and contribute to strengthening the Club as it moves forward.
