Coaching staff

Tim Powell - Senior Coach
Tim Powell continues as Senior Coach in 2012. Tim returned to Monash Blues in 2010 after becoming just the 4th man to coach a Monash Senior Premiership when he achieved this success coaching the Club to the D1 flag in 2003. Work commitments then forced his premature retirement from the coaching game, but we were thrilled when he returned to the Club in 2010. Tim played 75 AFL games for Richmond and Carlton and played in the 1993 AFL Grand Final. Tim is passionate about footy and the Monash Blues, generates a great rapport with players, committee and supporters and is the ideal man to lead the club into its next exciting era.

Luke Egan - Assistant Coach
Originally from Western Australia, Luke was an outstanding Junior footballer winning a Best & Fairest in the Quit Cup before being drafted by the Famous WAFL club, Peel Thunder. There he played in their Development Squad, Colts and Reserves under Geelong Legend Garry “Buddha” Hocking. Luke also won a League Best & Fairest for South Mandurah and played in the League Rep team and followed that up with another League Best & Fairest for York in the Avon Football League.

A serious injury cut short his playing career and his passion is now to establish a senior coaching pathway. He has junior coaching experience and has been exposed to some great coaches and innovations in AFL footy. He is right up to speed with the modern game and has a unique understanding of high level football and the University culture. Luke attended University in Perth where he played Amateur Footy for the University and currently teaches at Haileybury College, Keysborough.

Mick Pettingill - Under 19's Coach
Mick Pettingill steps up to take on the Under 19 coaching role in 2012. Following a 50+ game career with the Blues cruelled by injury, Mick has served the club in a variety of roles from coach to committee member. His enthusiasm for footy and the Monash Blues is undeniable.

Mick coached the club 18 side to finals in 2011 and promises exciting times with the under 19s; building the next generation of Monash legends from the club's most valuable asset.
