ABSTRACT:
Research into teleteaching has primarily focused on the
role of the technology. Improved teleteaching has been equated with
improving the teacher's ability to operate the technical system and
to use the related classroom media. This presentation describes a
phenomenographic approach to researching how university teachers
experience teaching by cross-campus video conferencing. It describes
key issues, in addition to the technology, which are problematic for
teachers in this environment. These issues include the way teachers
collaborate with other teachers and technical support staff; as well
as the way teachers conceive of the multiple student groups in the
teleteaching environment.
