About the presenter...

The Multimedia Development Group, MMDG was established to provide the support team to carry through a project for which the Faculty of Business and Economics received a grant from Monash's Multimedia Small Grants Scheme. The director, Ian Stagg, has been responsible for coordinating the work, and can thus outline some of the specific educational objectives the group has been working to in carrying out this project, and illustrate this realisation with examples of the multi media and WWW resources that have been developed by the group, and by others developing material within the faculty.

About the presentation...

The project aims to develop resource-based learning in first-year undergraduate subjects in major discipline areas of the Faculty - Accounting, Economics, Econometrics, Marketing and Management. It is believed that efficiencies and enhancement of learning can be achieved by multimedia delivery of teaching programs and in the long term the project is seen as being the catalyst for ongoing and widespread development of Faculty resources in this area.

Objectives of the project include: developing first-year undergraduate subject modules in a range of pedagogical modes; enhancing the realisation of educational objectives by employing a range of currently available and appropriate technology to assist teaching and learning; fostering cooperation between teaching groups of the Faculty across disciplines, programs and courses and between other experts in the multimedia and resource-based learning fields and to draw together existing expertise in these areas; facilitating project sustainability by development of a framework/model for further and continuous multimedia implementation of all first-year subjects and other subjects at all levels, where appropriate.
