Special requirements

You can list any special requirements when you apply to graduate or up to 30 days before your ceremony.

Accessibility needs

If you or one of your guests requires:

  • assistance on-stage
  • wheelchair access.

We can arrange for an aisle seat or for a staff member to assist you. Let us know by adding this as a special requirement in your graduation application.

Children at graduations

You cannot take your children with you on-stage and they cannot sit with you while you are waiting to receive your award. If you would like your children to attend, you will need to organise a family member or friend to supervise them during the ceremony, which runs for about 90 minutes.

Infants and small children can get restless during the ceremony. As guest seating is not allocated, please arrive early to secure seats near the aisles and exits so they can leave the ceremony if necessary.

You cannot take your pram into the Robert Blackwood Hall. Please leave it in the space set aside in the foyer.

Posthumous awards

If a student has passed away, a family member can request a posthumous award. This is subject to approval by University Council.

There are three options:

  • graduating in attendance, with a family member representing the deceased student
  • graduating in absentia and receiving the degree certificate (testamur) in the mail
  • family receiving the certificate from the faculty at a private occasion.

The family need to advise the student's faculty which option they prefer.
