Hire or buy academic dress

For graduations

If you are attending a graduation ceremony, the cost of hiring your academic dress is included in your graduation fee.

When you apply to graduate, enter your gown size and we will have it ready for you on the day.

Staff who need academic dress to participate in the graduation academic procession should fill in and submit the staff academic dress form (pdf 43kb)

2 hours before the ceremony.

Overseas ceremonies

We have a number of venues where we hold overseas graduation ceremonies.

You will be able to pick up your academic dress from the venue on the day of the ceremony. We will provide you with full details in writing.

You must return your academic dress to the collection point after refreshments and photographs.

If you do not return your academic dress, a replacement fee of $500 applies.

You can choose to buy your academic dress. Please place your order at least three weeks before your graduation.

Gowns cost approximately $500.

Casual hire of full academic dress is available only to Monash graduates.

Casual hire is available on non-graduation days. Please arrange bookings well in advance.

Bulk hire is available to secondary and tertiary institutions and other organisations.
