Through the Student Support in Honours Program the Faculty of Education aims to provide generous scholarships to high potential students completing an Honours year.
The program reflects the belief that the skills developed through honours year are great for professional practice. It is also a response to the impending crisis in replacing teacher educators. It is predicted that over one half of all Education faculty academics in Australia will have retired within 15 years.
The scholarships will encourage the next generation of academics to commence their university careers. It will provide rapid access to the Faculty of Education’s doctoral program. The financial support means the students can study full-time; focusing their full energy on their research. The support will help to make the program attractive to early and mid career teachers.
