The project to create a new building for the School of Music – Conservatorium will:

  • realise the vision to create a world-class music school building that will attract students and academics to Monash
  • create a vibrant, cultural hub in Clayton
  • transform the facilities and transform the School of Music so it becomes a more visible conservatorium in the Australia-Asia region
  • build a fusion of architectural and acoustic design that will produce a visually and aurally exciting, iconic building
  • deliver premier performance, teaching and research amenities, including: acoustically flexible, state-of-the-art teaching, practice and rehearsal spaces; recording studios and performance venues
  • showcase attractive, modern facilities that can be hired by external groups and individuals, meeting the needs of the community
