Are all gifts tax deductible?

Gifts to Monash University initiatives in Australia which are over $2 fulfil the requirements for a tax deductible donation for Australian tax payers. Donations to the University's campuses in South Africa and Malaysia and the Prato Centre are not tax deductible in Australia. Please consult your tax adviser to confirm your tax status.

If I give online, are my credit card details secure?

Monash University takes your information privacy and security very seriously. The donation website has security measures in place to protect your credit card and other information.

I live in the US can I make a tax effective gift to Monash?

Yes, Monash supporters living in the US can now receive full US tax benefits for your donation of $US500 or more, by donating via CAFAmerica.

CAFAmerica is a not-for-profit organisation that supports philanthropy around the world. 

You can make a gift to projects at Monash University of $US500 or more via CAFAmerica.  Simply:

• Download and complete a CAFAmerica donation form  or donate online.  If you want the gift to be used for a particular project e.g. scholarships, please indicate this on your form as 'Monash University – scholarships’.  Your suggestion of a grant to Monash University will be considered by CAFAmerica's Board of Directors.
• Once you have sent your gift to CAFAmerica, we encourage you to notify us by email so we can process and acknowledge your gift as promptly as possible.
• CAFAmerica will issue you an official receipt of donation and confirmation of grant to Monash University, which you can use to claim full tax deductions under 501c(3) of the US tax code. 

Monash University will send you a thank you letter acknowledging your generosity and confirming that we received your gift.

How can I direct my gift to a specific faculty or project?

Staff and alumni can select 'Area of personal interest' within the alumni online giving or staff online giving pages and enter the area they want to support.

Students and others can use the 'other' link on the Give Online webpage.

How do I make a bequest?

Who can I talk to about giving to Monash?

If you are interesting in giving to Monash, you can speak with one of several Campaign Office staff. Campaign Directors are responsible for different faculties or areas of the University and are happy to help you with a specific request.

How will I find out how my gift is used?

You will receive acknowledgement from the University of your gift. If you have directed your gift towards a major project, you will be informed about how your gift is used.
