Philanthropy at Monash

With your support, we can transform lives across the world.  Monash is a research-intensive university that aspires to be the leading university in the Asia-Pacific. And behind this aspiration is a fundamental goal: make a difference in everything that we do.  Through our work we aim to:

  • Support students to achieve their full potential
Offer more scholarships to the best and brightest, more bursaries for disadvantaged students and more emergency support for students facing hardship.
  • Advance research
Give our researchers the right resources and the world’s best facilities so they can make discoveries that improve and save lives.
  • Lead teaching and learning
Nurture the talents and energy of the next generations through a sophisticated and dynamic learning environment. Equip our educators with the latest technology and inspirational surroundings where they can easily share knowledge with their students.
  • Build for the future
Develop inspiring campuses that value academic, cultural and sporting pursuits. Create an inspiring environment with space to grow.
  • Prepare for change
Be ready to respond to new opportunities and emerging issues.

But we can't do it without the generous support of the community: our alumni, staff and friends. By working together we can pursue solutions to the key issues facing humanity today.

Our philanthropy program falls into three main areas:

Capital campaigns

Our team is working with esteemed volunteers to support two major building programs: the new School of Music at the Clayton campus and the Business and Law Complex at the Caulfield campus. Read more about our capital campaigns.

Major gift philanthropy

We work with our colleagues to raise funds for designated priorities in each of the University’s 10 faculties, campuses and research centre in Prato, Italy.  The priorities fall broadly under the categories of student support (scholarships and bursaries), teaching and learning initiatives, research projects, and campus enhancements.

At the same time as focusing on major gifts, donor relations staff work to develop relationships with potential bequest donors.  These are donors who give a gift through their will.

Annual giving

Monash University also conducts a program of annual giving that uses direct mail letters and targeted email campaigns to raise funds for key faculty and University-wide appeal projects.
