This is important information for Australian Development Scholarship (ADS) and Australian Leadership Award (ALA) students.
The AusAID office in your country can assist you with your student visa application. You can lodge your application at the nearest Australian High Commission or Embassy.
If you intend to bring family members, they should arrive after you have completed the five-week Introductory Academic Program (IAP). You should use this time to settle into your studies, get to know your surroundings and look for long-term accommodation and schooling for your family.

We have arranged single cover for you with Overseas Student Health Cover provided by Allianz Global Assistance for the length of your visa. If you plan to bring dependent family members to Australia, you must upgrade your single cover to family cover for the full length of your course. This will be at your own expense. ADS students - contact the AusAID office in your country to arrange airport pick up and/or temporary accommodation.
ALA students - email your flight arrival details and/or temporary accommodation request to the Monash Fees Unit at: ausaid@monash.edu
You should bring about A$300-$500 with you to cover your arrival expenses. The University and most banks will not be open on weekends.
Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) conducts quarantine inspection of all passengers and screening of your luggage. You must be aware of all prohibited items to avoid a fine or prosecution. If you are unsure, declare all items. Visit AQIS for more information.
You will need to bring your passport to register at Monash Connect in Building 10, Clayton Campus. You will receive an arrival package that includes details of your bank account, payment of establishment allowance, health insurance and Introductory Academic Program.
