Overseas Health Cover (OSHC)

New OSHC arrangements at Monash from 2008, through OSHC Worldcare.

It is an Australian Government visa regulation for international students studying on a student visa to have compulsory Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their stay in Australia.

Monash University requires all commencing international students to purchase visa length cover at the time of accepting their offer.

Continuing international students or commencing students who have received 2008 offer letters prior to November 2007 where annual OSHC premium has been quoted are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of their OSHC. These students may renew their existing OSHC annually or purchase the visa length cover for the remainder of their student visa.

Benefits for the student include:

• Meeting their mandatory visa conditions
• Ease of payment (one-off upfront payment to the university before the commencement of your course)
• Upfront payment avoids any annual premium increases
• Worldcare discount available when students purchase 13 months or more coverage
• Monash will offer an additional discount for all students who purchase visa length OSHC cover via Monash University with OSHC Worldcare
• Covered until the completion of their course plus an extra four weeks
• May remain covered (with holiday credits and/or an extra nominal payment) if they wish to remain for graduation or a short holiday
• Coverage includes students with packaged offers in Monash College, Monash University Foundation Year and Monash University English Language Centre
