Refund eligibility

You may be able to get a refund if you:

  • Overpay course fees
  • Can claim a discount on course fees
  • Change your enrolment (e.g. drop units, discontinue, finish your thesis) before the census date

We do not pay refunds:

  • For application, service or administrative fees
  • Before deducting other monies you may owe (e.g. library, student loans, Halls of Residence)

International students

You must:

  • Withdraw within the first 4 teaching weeks (or first 4 weeks of your research)
  • Get your refund claim authorised by the Manager, Fees, Monash University

If your fees are paid by a sponsor, we will notify and pay them the refund.

Domestic students

In special cases which have occurred after the census date (e.g. sickness, trauma) you may be eligible to apply for a remission of debt. If you:

  • Pay full fees
  • Pay the Student Contribution Amount up front
  • Have a HELP loan

You will need to apply to your faculty and provide supporting documentation.
