How do I apply?

Applications open in October and close in December.

1. Are you eligible?

Generally, to be eligible for Monash Extension, you must:

  • be eligible for the award of the VCE (or IB) in the year you intend to participate
  • be undertaking a normal full-time VCE or its equivalent
  • achieve high marks across ALL subjects.

2. Choose your subject area and teaching location

See the full list of subject areas and check that you meet the prerequisites and eligibility requirements.

3. Submit your application

Fill in the online application form. You will need to pay a $20 application fee.

The 2012 application closing date is 9 December 2011.

4. Submit your supporting documentation

As soon as you submit your online application, you must also submit:

  1. your year 11, semester one report
  2. proof that you have paid your $20 application fee. (If you do not have a credit card to pay online, enclose a cheque or money order payable to Monash University)
  3. your school declaration and approval form (pdf, 549kb).

You must submit the following supporting documents by 20 December:

  1. your year 11, semester two report
  2. your results for VCE units three and four
  3. a copy of your Monash Prize letter, if you have been awarded one.

ALL documents must be sent with a coversheet (pdf, 459kb). You can fax them to 03 9903 4777 or post to:

Remember, the LAST DAY to submit documents is 20 December.

Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure their application is complete. Incomplete applications will not be considered and the Monash Extension office is not able to contact applicants for missing documents.

Monash will then assess individual applications to determine each student's suitability for the program. Your secondary school can only recommend you for the program – Monash University makes the final decision.

Offers and confirmation of enrolment

We will assess applications early in 2012 and email offers by 13 January. You must reply to the email to accept the offer. An orientation day is on 19 January at the Clayton campus.
