Studying European and EU studies at the Centre: A new perspective

Europe, and especially the European Union (EU), is a major economic actor and a source of innovation. As a powerful trade negotiator and a leading player in global issues such as the environment, development aid, social policy, education and human rights, the EU is increasingly recognized as a new force for global security and welfare with a growing political presence on the world stage.

European and EU Studies will allow you to:

  • study and research both in Europe and in Australia;
  • learn about Europe: its present, its past and its possible futures; Europe's peoples and nations; Europe's cultures, political and economic life; and the relationships that link today’s Europe and the EU to the rest of the world;
  • have the opportunity of completing overseas study in Europe at partner European universities with which Monash has exchange agreements;
  • undertake an intensive study program at the Monash University Prato Centre in Italy;
  • have the option of studying one or more European languages at the Monash Faculty of Arts School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics;
  • have the option of completing a postgraduate internship in Brussels, the seat of many EU institutions.
