Our activities

Teaching

At the undergraduate level, the Centre offers major or minor sequences as part of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts (Global). The Centre's teaching also forms the basis for a Diploma in European Studies and an honours program.  At the postgraduate level, the interdisciplinary Master in European and International Studies or the Graduate Diploma in European and International Studies explore European Union (EU) institutions and policies and the role of the EUin the international system. Students may elect to complete an internship in Brussels in Belgium, an intensive study program at the Monash Prato Centre in Italy or a semester abroad at participating European universities. A Master of Arts degree by research, a Master of Arts by coursework and research and a Doctor of Philosophy in European Studies are also available. More on Study Programs

Research

The Centre promotes top quality research and publications on Europe and the EU and encourages international research exchanges and collaborations between Australia and Europe. It offers PhD, domestic and international research scholarships. It holds major international conferences on Europe and the EU. Our research strengths include European, EU and international history, the EU in the world, international relations, European civilization and modernity, comparative regionalism, EU law, interest representation and business in the EUMore on Research

Outreach

The Centre organizes public lectures and seminars on Europe and the EU; advises opinion leaders in business, government and the media through a briefings and seminars; is developing an outreach programme for secondary students, and holds major annual conferences. It offers prestigious yearly essay prizes to university students. It works closely with representatives of European Communities in Australia towards building a strong European network. More on Outreach
