Cardiac Modelling Workshop - 2 October 2009MeSsAGE Lab and the Monash e-Research Centre connected with UCSD on 2 October in a High Definition Video (HDV) link, enabling PRIME undergraduate students in the United States to inform Monash researchers from Medicine, Information Technology and Engineering about their experiences with various cardiac modelling techniques. The students, Anna Pham, Amir Shirkhani, Ramya Chitters and Scott Revelli, recently completed nine week internships with leading research groups in Australia, Japan and New Zealand. In his introduction Dr Arzberger, Chairman of PRAGMA, praised the internship program (established in 2004 by PRAGMA members) for giving undergraduate students the opportunity to produce research in a truly international context. The 'life-like' HDV interactive technology used on the day allowed former visiting students, Ramya Chitters and Scott Rivelli, the opportunity to again communicate informally with Monash researchers - while at great distance. Participants of the successful workshop discussed ideas for potential interdisciplinary collaboration, and Professor Peter Hunter and Professor Kevin Burrage presented from Monash University. |
