Discrimination and harassment adviser training

Discrimination and Harassment Grievance Advisers are students and staff appointed under the Discrimination and Harassment Grievance Procedures by the relevant Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Their role is to provide information and support to staff or students who perceive that they may have experienced sexual harassment or discrimination or who believe such an allegation may be made against them.

Advisers must be able to:

  • Listen seriously and impartially to the concerns and perceptions of a staff member or student seeking their advice;
  • Explain the University's policy and procedures;
  • Explore possible options for resolving the problem;
  • Make referrals to other sources of help;
  • Provide support until the matter is resolved.

This two day training is designed for intending advisers and others wanting to increase their skills in handling sensitive and challenging interpersonal situations. Workshops are highly interactive.
