Auslan interpreters

The Disability Liaison Unit (DLU) can arrange Auslan interpreters for registered students who are deaf.

When requesting interpreters it is vital to give the DLU as much notice as possible as Auslan interpreters are in high demand.

To apply for Auslan interpreters contact the Disability Liaison Unit.

What are my responsibilities if I need interpreters in class?

Before semester:

  • give timetable details to your Disability Liaison Officer well before the beginning of semester whenever possible. A provisional or incomplete timetable is acceptable if your official timetable is not due to be released before semester starts.

During semester:

  • keep the DLU directly informed of any changes to your timetable. Telling only your interpreter or notetaker is not acceptable.
  • advise the DLU if you cannot attend a class. Give at least 24 hours notice if possible. If you miss too many classes without providing sufficient notice your interpreter service may be withdrawn.
