Conditions applying to building and metal trades staff

This part applies to the following categories of trades and services staff: Carpenters, Electricians, Fitters, Oiler/Greasers, Painters, Plant Attendants, Plumbers, Store Attendants (as defined under clause 3); and Trade Assistants

Section 1 - University and Staff Members' Duties, Employment Relationship and Related Arrangements

66. High Voltage Operators

66.1 The University will nominate Electricians to act as High Voltage Operators on an on- going basis. Any Electrician so nominated will be sponsored by the University to undertake the training necessary to gain a High Voltage Operators Licence.

66.2 High Voltage Operators will be required to hold and to act on a High Voltage Operators Licenc e and to be available to respond to emergency calls outside normal working hours.

66.3 High Voltage Operators must not be under the influence of any drug or substance which may impair their judgement or performance. This includes alcohol, recreational drugs and any medication, prescribed or otherwise.

66.4 It is the responsibility of the staff member to inform his/her supervisor of any circumstance or condition which may inhibit the staff member's ability to perform as a High Voltage Operator.
