71. Span of Hours

71.1 Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Agreement the University may during the period Monday to Friday, and by agreement with the staff member(s) concerned establish an arrangement for extended shifts of up to nine hours thirty minutes (exclusive of meal breaks) which would not attract shift penalty. A staff member so agreeing would not be required to work on more than 80% of the ordinary working days (Monday to Friday).

71.2 Work arrangements existing at 3 March 1991 where work is performed outside of the span of ordinary hours are permitted to continue without payment of shift penalties, where these work patterns have been recorded and filed with the Division of Human Resources (or its predecessors).
