Re-enrolment for research students

Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates need to re-enrol if you:

  • plan to continue study in the following year
  • are currently on intermission (study leave) but will return to study in the following year
  • will not submit a thesis before 21 December.

A research year is from 1 January - 31 December of each year.

We email you in September advising you to enrol using WES or a Course Enrolment form from your faculty.

Re-enrolment dates for 2012

Monday 10 October - Monday 21 November 2011.

Mid-year re-enrolment

Your faculty will contact you in May or June about mid-year re-enrolment.

Course and unit information

You must:

  • choose units that comply with your course requirements
  • seek course advice prior to re-enrolment starting.

Using WES

Most research students re-enrol using the Web Enrolment System (WES). For step-by-step instructions, see the HDR WES guide.

Do not leave re-enrolment until the last day because:

  • you may need to contact University staff for course advice
  • we will not waive the late enrolment fee due to any WES access problems.

You get a transaction number for successful re-enrolment (beginning with U). We send this to your Monash email account. Keep this number as proof of your re-enrolment.

Debts or penalties

We will not permit you to re-enrol if have any outstanding debts to the University.

You are still expected to re-enrol on time. We will charge a fee for late re-enrolment if you do not remove a re-enrolment block in time.

If you have a scholarship, it may be suspended.
