Domestic full-fee (FEE-HELP)

Most domestic, postgraduate students (and undergraduates not in a Commonwealth Supported Place) must pay full course fees unless you have a government loan.

Use the domestic full fee calculator to estimate your fees.

Course fee payments

We send you a fee statement based on your unit enrolment. See fee payment dates

If you do not have FEE-HELP, you must pay in full by the due date. See fee payment methods

If you have FEE-HELP, the government lends you the balance of course fees that are unpaid at the census date (up to certain limits).

To avoid paying fees for units you do not want to take, you must discontinue them by the census date

Overdue payments

If you do not pay on time, and you do not have FEE-HELP, we will cancel your enrolment.

FEE-HELP loan

FEE-HELP is mostly used by domestic students enrolled in a full fee-paying, postgraduate (non-research) award course.

In some cases, undergraduates can get FEE-HELP but there is a 20% administrative fee. Some CSP students apply for FEE-HELP to assist with course fees for full fee summer or winter semester units.

If you change course, you must apply for FEE-HELP for the new course.

Loan repayments

You repay any FEE-HELP loan through the tax system once your income reaches a certain level. Your debt remains even if you do not complete your course. In special situations, you can apply to have the debt removed. See remission of debt

Closing date

You must apply for FEE-HELP at least five days before your fees are due (see your Monash fee statement).

Approved applicants get a new fee statement the following week. This shows FEE-HELP is your payment option.

Unsuccessful applicants get a letter within 5 business days. You must pay your course fees in full or we will cancel your enrolment.

Tracking your payments or debt

Your Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN) for the relevant census dates shows your contributions and any debt that you owe the government (indexed each year).

Check this online each semester in WES. Use the Dispute button if anything is incorrect. You must tell us within 14 days, or we will assume it is correct and you will be liable for that loan debt or use of study entitlements.
