Introduction to enrolling

This introductory page gives you an overview but does not link to your tasks and options. That is done in the 'How to enrol' steps for domestic and international students. From those steps, you will also go to faculty sites and computer systems to complete your enrolment.

From offer letter to a complete enrolment

To accept your offer or to defer, follow the How to enrol steps on the enrolment site.

If you do not enrol during the time we allow, we assume that you have rejected your offer.
We will offer your place to someone else.

You confirm acceptance of your offer by completing all the enrolment steps - there is no actual acceptance tickbox.

Your enrolment is successful when you have your student ID card.

Online and on-campus tasks

Most online enrolment tasks can be done before or on enrolment day - using the Web Enrolment System (WES).

If you have problems completing any steps online, staff will be available on enrolment day to help you.

Prior to entering unit choices, most students have to attend a faculty course information session on campus. This helps you understand your course and how to enrol in units (subjects) of study.

You get online course and unit information from your faculty website(s) and the Monash Handbook.

You return to the enrolment site when you are ready to enter your units. You will then use WES again.

WES is programmed to:

  • Prevent entry of your unit choices until certain dates - this is usually after your faculty course information session
  • Check for prerequisites and other unit requirements

You need to go to your campus on enrolment day to collect your student ID card.

Government requirements

Monash University must refer you to some government documents and a questionnaire.

We provide concise explanations from the enrolment main menu for things like Commonwealth support (HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP and SA-HELP).

We link to these and other resources as you progress through the 6 enrolment steps.

Options and enrolment changes

Monash has 10 faculties offering many degrees and a huge range of unit options.

We encourage you to choose units carefully.

You are not locked in to your initial unit choices. You can still make changes after you have successfully enrolled with no penalties up to certain dates.

Before making a change, check the time limits and consequences.
