Say how you will pay Your payment options and eligibility for discounts and to defer depend on your citizenship. As you complete the form, it will outline your payment options. New Zealand citizens and holders of a permanent visa:
  • are not eligible for HECS-HELP assistance
  • must pay in full up-front
Australian citizens and holders of a permanent humanitarian visa:
  • are eligible for HECS-HELP assistance - both discounts for upfront payments and deferral of payment
To defer payment, you must include your Tax File Number (TFN). If you don't, your only option is upfront payment. When you get a TFN, you can change it in WES up until the census date. If you are waiting to get your TFN, you can show your application certificate to the counter staff at Monash Connect on your campus. They can change your payment option for you

If paying upfront, you do not have to provide your TFN. Many students still enter their TFN as a safety net in case they cannot pay by the due date
