Complementary study allows you to study units at another institution and have them count toward your Monash award course.
When your application is approved by both institutions, follow the instructions on the form to enrol at the host institution.
Standard census dates apply to complementary study units. If you discontinue your complementary studies, you must do so at both Monash and the host institution to avoid fees and fail grades. Discontinue the Monash units using an Enrolment Amendment form (available from your faculty) as you can't use WES to discontinue complementary study units.
To have your results credited to your Monash course, you need to:
Your result will appear on your academic record (transcript) as either SFR (satisfied faculty requirements) or Fail. If you don't provide a record from the host institution you will have a Fail recorded against the units on your Monash academic record.
You pay fees for the unit/s to the host institution, which can offer you either a full-fee or Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). This does not depend on the type of place that you currently have at Monash.
If offered CSP at the host institution: Complete a Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP form at the host institution.
If offered a domestic full-fee place at the host institution: Complete a Request for FEE-HELP Assistance at the host institution if you want FEE-HELP for the unit, even if you have completed the same form at Monash.
If offered CSP at host institution: Complete a Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP form at the host institution even if you have completed the same form at Monash.
If offered a domestic full-fee place at the host institution: Consider whether you want to use FEE-HELP to help finance these studies.
