Teaching Methods & Classes
Teaching methods
- MUELC bases its teaching on a broad communicative approach, which integrates
the four macro skills, Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking
- Authentic materials are used where possible
- A mixture of student-centred
and teacher-centred methods allows students to gain confidence and
work at their own pace individually
or in a group
- Teachers use written material, audio tapes, videos
and graphic material
- Computer programs support teaching and learning.
Classes
- Class sizes range from 10 to 18 students, with an average of 12-14
- Students
study English for 25 hours per week, Monday - Friday, from 9:00 am
to 5:00 pm
- The Computer Lab and the Independent Learning Centre are
open from 8:00 am -6:00 pm for classes and supervised self-study
outside class
hours
- Students receive a course information document outlining
the objectives relating to the four macro skills, approach being
used, themes and topics, excursions
proposed and assessment methods
- Teachers follow the course
curriculum at each level and choose texts according to the needs
and interests of the class
- Study materials are provided but students will need to purchase
notebooks and stationery. Textbooks may be required in
some programs
- Students receive a written, individual progress
assessment report every five weeks and a detailed Final Course Report.
