Sichuan University

The Monash Sichuan University relationship has been under development for a number of years it includes both research and education collaborations across five faculties at Monash and twelve schools at Sichuan. Research collaboration involves the Juizhaigou International Laboratory for Ecology, Environment and Sustainability; the Sino-American Institute of University Design; Immunology and stem cells; Advanced materials and Green chemistry; and Global movements.

A highlight of this relationship was a visit by over thirty Deans and the Vice President (International) from Sichuan University to Monash in 2007. During this visit the Deans attended a meeting of the Monash Vice-Chancellor's Group, the senior management team of the university, this was the first time Monash had welcomed international partners as guests to this forum. Monash looks forward to welcoming students from Sichuan University to study Engineering in the near future.

Luleå University of Technology, Sweden

Lulea University of Technology

The Monash Luleå relationship has been underway for over a decade. The relationship began with undergraduate student and staff exchange in Engineering and has grown to include co-operation across eight Monash Faculties. Research collaboration involves Art and Design, Business and Economics, Engineering and Information Technology.

A highlight of this relationship is the high level of exchange of academics between Luleå and Monash with over a dozen academics from each institution spending time at the other institution.

As virtual worlds emerge as a platform for international collaboration in education and research, Monash University has begun using Second Life© to provide an interactive medium for that purpose.
