Reply to a Notice of Referral and Hearing

If you get this notice from your faculty, do not ignore it. You can:

  1. Reply in writing and say that you will go to the hearing
  2. Just send a written reply
  3. Withdraw from your course

Unless you withdraw, you should choose option 1.

Information sessions

MONSU student rights officers run information sessions to give advice on how to reply to the notice. Our counsellors attend and give a short talk, and you can speak to them after the session.

The sessions are in December and January each year. To book a place, call MONSU Student Rights and Support on (03) 9903 2596 or email studentrights@monsu.org.

Prepare your written reply

Read the notice carefully. Make sure your reply:

Your case will be stronger if you explain your personal situation and include supporting documents. For instance, if you have been seeing a professional to get help with your problems, they could write a letter confirming your situation. You do not have to include personal information if you do not want to.
