Community-Campus Engagement

On 20 April 2010, Monash University hosted a Community-Campus Summit on International Students. This extremely important summit brought together government representatives, Victorian industry groups, local community organisations, foreign diplomats and Monash University representatives (staff and students) to address key issues impacting on international students.

The Summit presented an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas on a range of issues important to international students.

The Summit sought to deliver in particular two key outcomes:

  1. Developing a set of actionable items aimed at dealing with key issues directly impacting on international students in areas such as accommodation, transport, safety and security, social inclusion and employment rights.
  2. Formulate practical ways in which international students could be more engaged with local communities.
