10-12 September 2009
Monash University Prato Centre, Italy
Welcome to Refugee Futures Conference 2009
Refugee Futures will canvass one of the most important issues of the modern world – the increasing flow of refugees and asylum seekers between countries in the wake of continuing pockets of conflict and war.
Topics to be covered by an eminent group of scholars, administrators and policy makers include:
- the future challenges faced in the strategic management of refugee movements and settlement
- protracted refugee situations and the difficulty of finding solutions
- the scope for refugee resettlement
- refugees, crime and security
- climate change and displacement of people
- refugee children: how can the international community improve outcomes?
- the future of the global refugee regime
The Conference will be held at the Monash University Centre, in the elegant 18 th century Palazzo Vaj, in Prato, near Florence, in the city’s historic heart.
The intensive two day conference will emphasise the future, and is the fourth presented by the partnership of the International Metropolis Project Canada; the Australian Multicultural Foundation and the Monash Institute for the Study of Global Movements.
