    Call for papers

Three Major Themes:

Integrated governance
This opening theme invites papers examining the concept of integrated governance and advances in theoretical understanding, providing an essential background to research on particular forms and examples.

Integrated governance in catastrophe relief, recovery and rebuilding
The Indian Ocean Tsunami (26 December 2004) has demonstrated the importance to meeting peoples needs of the integration of actions by state apparatuses, intergovernmental agencies, non government bodies and corporations in extreme circumstances. Papers are invited documenting and exploring the operation of governance in the aftermath of major catastrophes.

Corporate social responsibility and corporate governance
Corporate social responsibility has emerged as an important aspect of corporate governance which is integrating the interest and behaviour of corporations more closely with those of states, intergovernmental
bodies and civil society. However, the concept is not settled, with strongly divergent views about its meaning, even over whether corporations have social responsibilities. Papers are invited which explore this key area of governance.

Abstracts of up to 250 words outlining proposed papers should be submitted not later than 31 May 2005. Please download the "Guidelines for Preparation of Abstracts" and prepare the abstracts along those guidelines. Authors will be advised on acceptance of their proposals not later than 15 July 2005. The completed paper must be submitted no later than 2 September 2005. Papers for publication in the conference proceedings (on CD-ROM) will subject to double blind refereeing.

The MGRU is a unique research and consultancy unit in Australia that encompasses public governance, corporate governance and civil society and investigates the inter-relationships between these important spheres. Details of the 2004 Conference program and papers are on the MGRU conference website:
