Introduction
China is now one of Australia’s most important
trading and economic partners. Business
interactions between the two countries are
rapidly growing and strengthening at all levels
across many sectors. Success in further
developing and sustaining this mutually
productive economic relationship relies on
a thorough understanding of each other
and effective communication.
This symposium series is a joint initiative of Monash University’s
Faculty of Business and Economics and the Consulate General
of the People’s Republic of China in Melbourne. It aims to provide
opportunities for high level interaction between Australian and
Chinese business leaders, academic experts and policy makers;
to inform the community and to stimulate the exchange of ideas.
Following the successful visit to Australia by the Chinese
Premier Mr Wen Jiabao in April, the first in this series of symposia,
‘Partnering for Success – through Chinese eyes’ will focus on
growing China-Australia complementary business potential and
investment opportunities. Key speakers will include the Consul
General of the People’s Republic of China in Melbourne, Mr Liang
Shugen; the Managing Director of CITIC Resources Australia and
Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Melbourne,
Mr Chen Zeng; and Senior Vice-President, China Minmetals
Corporation, Mr Xu Siwei. |
