Rosemary Batt

Rosemary Batt is the Alice Hanson Cook Professor of Women and Work at the Industrial and Labor Relations School, Cornell University. She received her BA from Cornell University and her Ph.D. from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research spans human resource studies and industrial relations, with a particular focus on service sector restructuring and globalization, work organization, and labor market analysis and inequality. She has written extensively on service management strategies, the restructuring of the telecommunications services industry, and the development of the call center industry. She has published numerous book chapters and articles in such journals as Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Academy of Management Journal, Personnel Psychology, Industrial Relations, International Journal of Human Resource Management, and the British Journal of Industrial Relations. She is co-editor of the Oxford Handbook on Work and Organization and co-author of The New American Workplace: Transforming Work Systems in the United States, Cornell University Press. She received the 2003 Academic Achievement Award in Human Resource Studies from the Academy of Management and the Outstanding Young Scholar Award in 2000 from the Industrial Relations Research Association.
