Hector McKenzie – Deputy Director of Public Transport, Department of Infrastructure
Hector McKenzie has had many years experience in Melbourne’s public transport operations. In his current role he is responsible for managing the contract arrangements with Connex and Yarra Trams, Melbourne’s train and tram operator respectively. The role also encompasses procurement of new rolling stock, development of medium and long term infrastructure requirements necessary to meet growth and issues related to access to public transport by people with disabilities.
In 1998 and 1999 Hector was seconded to the Transport Reform Unit of Treasury and oversaw Victoria’s first Action Plan for accessible transport. In his current role he has been heavily involved in the development and implementation of Victoria’s second Action Plan released in September 2006.
